Robyn, Diamond Rings, and Natalia Kills

Austin’s newest music venue, Austin City Limits – Live at the Moody Theater, opened in early February 2011. The venue is the new studio home of the renowned PBS show Austin City Limits and will also be hosting an array of other acts on their new state-of-the-art stage. One of these recent performances included Robyn, Diamond Rings and Natalia Kills.

Natalia KillsNatalia KillsNatalia KillsNatalia KillsNatalia Kills, the British recording artist, songwriter, actress, and short-film director, opened the show with her unique sound of dark pop.

Diamond RingsDiamond RingsDiamond RingsDiamond Rings, the solo project of John O’Regan, a Canadian Indie rock musician, was next up. His eccentric personality and smooth emotive voice grabbed the audience’s attention.

 

RobynRobynRobynRobynRobynRobyn, Sweden’s answer to Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, delivered a mesmerizing performance, using just her voice, two synth players, and two drummers. She avoided all of the over-the-top gimmicks of many of today’s artists and let her songs do the speaking for her. Her electro-pop songs each had their own unique charm. Robyn’s vocals were nearly flawless and the large crowd was treated to an exciting show of fan favorites such as “Dancing On My Own”, “Love Kills”, “Indestructible” and “Show Me Love.”
